A Parrot Tulip with large, dark-purple flowers and flame-like petals. The flowers open very wide in the Sun, looking almost flat by the end of the bloom season. A good way to add dark contrast to light-colored flowers. These tulips were created from a science experiment in which Single Late Tulips were x-rayed, giving them colorful feather-like petals; like other tulips, they are very easy to grow and an excellent choice for cut flowers, container planting and Winter forcing. Tulips grow faster and have richer color in full Sun, but partial shade can extend their bloom time while still offering a colorful addition to your garden. While these bulbs are best planted in the fall, they only need a few months of growth and can usually be planted up to Christmas.
