Easy to grow and care for, the peace lily (Spathiphyllum plant), is a beautiful plant with lush dark green foliage and showy white flowers that will brighten up any space. While peace lilies are not true lilies, these tropical evergreen plants in the Arum family are versatile plants that can be displayed in many different ways. They look great in a variety of pots, and can be placed on tables, shelves, or in floor standing containers. They also thrive in outdoor shade-friendly gardens, adding a touch of elegance and serenity. The white flowers of the peace lily stand out again the gorgeous dark green foliage and can appear almost year-round as the plants offset and new growth matures, provided they are well-watered, fed, and it doesn't get too cold. The blooms have a hood-like shape, with a white spadix emerging from a green spathe. Caring for peace lily plants is easy, making them perfect for beginners or busy individuals. They prefer bright, indirect light and should be watered by the time the soil feels dry to the touch. Soil should be kept moist but not soggy. The plant will survive low light but prefers bright, filtered light, which will support more robust blooming. Do not place your peace lily in the direct sun. Doing so will burn the leaves. Fertilize every 6-weeks during spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertilizer.
