Hoya Carnosa 'Krimson Queen' conveys classic wax plant charm with the added treat of creamy leaf margins to its heart-shaped green leaves to go with fragrant porcelain-like flowers. You may even see shades of yellow and pink. Some leaves could emerge predominantly pink or brightly white. Hoya carnosa will naturally drape over the sides of its hanging basket, enjoying the space to trail freely and profusely. It can also climb up a small trellis. Hoyas, including 'Krimson Queen', are also absolutely adored for their showy flower clusters, earning the species the nickname of porcelain flower. The dainty star-shaped blooms appear in parachute-shaped clusters of 30 or so flowers, emitting a sweet scent reminiscent of honey, vanilla, or chocolate. It could take a few years for your 'Krimson Queen' bloom, but when it does, you have a beautifully blooming houseplant. Hoya Carnosa 'Krimson Queen' does best in bright, indirect light or filtered sun. Water thoroughly but allow soil to become somewhat dry between waterings. Do not remove the leafless spurs, or peduncles, on which new flowers appear every year. You can feed monthly during spring and summer with houseplant food. Reduce watering in fall and winter.
