Hosta's are not grown for their flowers but for their foliage, which are prettier than the flowers. They come in a spectrum of blues, golds, greens, yellows and whites as well as variegated, some speckled and others striped. They thrive in the shade, even though they can withstand some sun, are long-lived and low-maintenance. Many Hosta varieties have seasonal color or can change color depending on growing conditions. While there are over 3,000 cultivars to choose from, we offer some of the more extra-ordinary each unique in color, texture and form. Hosta Firm Line is a sport of Hosta First Frost and grows heart-shaped blue-green leaves with wide white margins, which actually start out early in the season more yellowish. The green and white provide a sharp contrast which can be seen from a distance. The variety is said to be slug resistant and is more medium in size. Good choice for containers and mass naturalizing alike.
