Calathea lancifolia is a striking tropical foliage plant and yet another example of the striking beauty found within the prayer plant family. The plant sports long, narrow, wavy leaves that feature a delightful, rippled pattern of markings resembling those on the skin of some rattlesnakes. These markings alternate in size and on dark green, adorning a leafy canvas of lighter green. The leaf underside is a gorgeous burgundy. Rattlesnake plant's leaves are attached to slender stems. This plant has a clumping growth habit, with new leaves emerging from the center and spreading outwards, giving it a full, lush appearance. To care for your Calathea lancifolia, place it in medium to bright, indirect light and keep the soil moist but not soggy. Distilled water, filtered water or rainwater preferred. Avoid direct Sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves. Rattlesnake plant prefers high humidity, so consider using a humidifier or pebble tray or grouping this rattler with other plants. You can feed once a month during spring and Summer with houseplant food diluted by half. With proper care, rattlesnake plant will thrive and add an ornamental, tropical vibe to your home or office.
