Wave petunias create a ground-hugging blanket of color. These plants are low-spreading and spread out, making a beautiful groundcover. For a group, they should be planted about 12 in. apart. They grow to between 5 in. and 7 in. tall, 36 in. to 48 in. W, These plants are perfect for garden beds, baskets, planters and window boxes. Full Sunlight and medium watering serves them best. They're heat tolerant as long as they're getting enough water. Avoid wet foliage when heading into night. Moist, well-drained soil is ideal, never soggy. Chalk, clay, loam or sand are compatible with these plants. They should be fertilized once a week for best performance, though every other week will suffice in some situations. Unlike other petunias, wave petunias require no deadheading. These plants are known to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. They're considered perennials in hardiness zone 11, but are otherwise treated as annuals in cooler areas.
