The Oakland Holly Tree is a phenomenal upright holly from the Southern Living Plant Collection. This variety features oak-like evergreen leaves with numerous points on each leaf. Unlike the Nellie R. Stevens Holly, the spines on this variety are not sharply pointed. Its foliage grows with a pyramidal habit and is naturally dense and compact, so it needs little, if any, maintenance. At maturity, it reaches 15 ft. tall to 20 ft. tall and 12 ft. W to 15 ft. W, so it's perfect for a privacy hedge or screen to block out any nosy neighbors or street noise. Otherwise, use this regal beauty at the corner of a foundation, as a specimen or even in a container. In late winter, the Oakland Holly produces bright red berries that add a level of seasonal interest to your landscape. This Holly Tree is hardy from USDA Zones 6-9 and grows best in Full Sun to Partial Sun. It does well in average quality soil with good drainage. Water your new plantings 2-3 times per week for the first growing season. Fertilize in early spring with a slow-release fertilizer. These Oakland Holly are well-established in a 3 Gal. pot and will tend to be approximately 15 in. tall to 18 in. tall when shipped.
